The Youth Committee is a dedicated group of students from local middle and high schools whose primary focus is to share helpful information with their peers about the dangers of substance abuse. They also speak with parent groups about the importance of Developmental Assets in preventing risky behavior. The committee meets twice per month to talk about how they should respond to local trends and plan alternative events for youth ages 12-18.
Recently, the students worked with a volunteer designer from a local marketing communications firm to develop a series of posters and magnets (see posters below). The students prioritized the topics and decided they would start with marijuana, prescription drugs (specifically Adderall) and cigarette smoking. The posters have been distributed to the schools and the students have begun handing out the magnets to their friends.
